Katie Riley She's the First

I'm the Programs Manager at She's the First, an organization that is fighting gender inequality though education.

Here's what that means:

Campus Programs

I oversee our campus chapters, a robust student leadership program with 3,000 highly engaged students on 225 high school and college campuses in 38 US states and 7 countries. Drawing on my own experience as a student leader and the latest trends in student activism, I'm responsible for growing our campus footprint and aligning all activities to STF's core pillars: community engagement, leadership development, and global citizenship. I supervise a team of 24 full-time volunteers who help keep our students connected on campus and post-graduation.

Professional Development

I'm responsible for the three public professional development arms of STF: our internship program, Junior Board, and Young Professionals Network. These programs provide avenues for students and working Millennials to engage with the mission of She's the First while growing their skills and talents in the workplace.

Event Production

In August 2017, I completed my 6th STF Summit, an annual conference for She's the First supporters in New York City. I serve as the executive producer on this event, responsible for all programming, speaker outreach, and event logistics. In January 2017, I piloted the first STF West Coast Retreat in Los Angeles, CA, and in September 2017, I piloted the first STF Partner Conference in Nairobi, Kenya.

Building the Movement

I'm constantly looking for ways to make our mission better, faster, and stronger. In the day to day, that means I keep our team on track with the newest technology and most efficient systems to do our work. This fall, we're launching the STF Action Network, a new platform inspired by my efforts to create a way to engage with She's the First regardless of age, location, or socioeconomic circumstances. I'm helping to guide content for this platform and advising on the UX and potential partnerships and collaborations.
